Our Services
Family Law Mediation
Confidential, court-connected mediation that helps families reach their own agreements — outside the courtroom, with dignity and professional guidance.
What We Provide
Our family law mediators are bilingual, trained and experienced in facilitating a neutral environment where parents can communicate, identify areas of disagreement, and work toward mutually acceptable agreements focused on the best interests of their children.
Mediation is designed to give families an opportunity to participate in creating solutions that work for their individual circumstances. Our mediation services do not provide legal advice or legal representation, and participants are encouraged to seek independent legal counsel when needed.
The Process
How the Process Works
Initial Consultation
We begin with a brief intake to understand your situation, explain the mediation process, and determine whether our services are a good fit for your family's needs.
Separate Orientation (if needed)
In cases involving domestic violence or high conflict, we may meet with each party separately before joint sessions to ensure safety and comfort.
Mediation Sessions
Sessions are conducted in a neutral, confidential setting. Our mediator facilitates communication, helps clarify issues, and guides parties toward workable solutions.
Written Agreement
When parties reach agreement, we prepare a written summary of the terms. Parties are encouraged to have independent legal counsel review any agreement before signing.
Our Difference
Why Choose RBC for Mediation
Bilingual Services
We offer mediation in English and Spanish, removing language barriers so every family can fully participate in the process.
Trauma-Informed Approach
Our mediators understand the emotional weight families carry. We create a space that is safe, respectful, and sensitive to each party's experience.
Sliding-Scale Fees
We believe access to mediation should not depend on income. Our sliding-scale fee structure ensures affordability for all families we serve.
Court-Connected
We work with courts and attorneys across the Bay Area and accept court referrals, attorney referrals, and self-referrals.
An Important Note
Due to the need for confidentiality in mediation and neutrality in supervised visitation, we do not offer both mediation and supervised visitation services to the same families. Our mediation services support families in crafting their own agreements and are not a substitute for independent legal advice or representation.
